Vol. 472 No. 4

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Declan Bree

Ceist:

85 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for Finance if the report by the consultants commissioned to investigate the feasibility of carrying out works which might alleviate localised flooding in the Owenmore River catchment area has been received by his Department; if the report has been considered by the Office of Public Works; and when work will commence on drainage of the Owenmore River. [23519/96]

A report by consultants commissioned to investigate the feasibility of carrying out works which might alleviate localised flooding in the Arrow-Owenmore river catchment has recently been achieved and has been considered by the Commissioners of Public Works. In the report the consultants recommend a number of minor works which if completed would help to alleviate flooding in the Arrow-Owenmore river catchment area. A sum of £215,000 has been allocated to cover the cost of the identified works which will commence immediately.
