Vol. 472 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Takeover.

Noel Dempsey

Ceist:

92 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Health if the recent takeover of the hospital in Drogheda, County Louth contains a provision which will make his Department liable for any claims which may be outstanding against the previous owners of the hospital; and if so, if he will make a statement on the matter. [23427/96]

Limerick East): The Deputy will wish to know that the International Missionary Training Hospital, Our Lady of Lourdes, Drogheda is in negotiation with the North Eastern Health Board with regard to the takeover of the hospital by the board. On successful completion of the negotiations, the North Eastern Health Board would become the new owners of the hospital. The question of contingent liabilities is being examined as part of that transfer of ownership process so as to ensure that appropriate provision is made for such liabilities.
