Ceist:131 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Education if funding will be provided in 1997 for the youth services budget; the initiatives, if any, that will be undertaken; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1910/97]

The provision made for the support of youth services in 1997 is reflected in the recently-published abridged Estimates for Public Services. Applications for the establishment of new initiatives will be considered in the context of available resources, having regard to the need to service existing commitments.
