119 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the current position regarding an application for grant assistance submitted by Galway Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the extension and improvement of the runway at Galway Regional Airport; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The transport operational programme contains no proposals for European Regional Development Fund funding for the privately owned regional airports. However, a number of residual capital works proposed by the regional airports, including an improvement of the runway at Galway airport, are being considered in the context of the mid-term review of the programme.
