Vol. 474 No. 8

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Robert Molloy

Ceist:

95 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay in completing a dealing for a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4086/97]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49, i.e., acquisition of title by virtue of long possession of the Registration of Title Act, 1964. Queries were issued to the lodging solicitors on 16 January 1997, and replies are awaited. The matter cannot proceed until the queries raised are satisfactorily discharged.

I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 take some time to process. It is not, therefore, possible to estimate a completion time at this stage.

Ceist:

96 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay in completing a dealing for a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4087/97]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application for first registration based on possession which was lodged on 2 June 1994. Several queries have issued, the latest being on 13 December 1996, and replies were received on 13 January 1997. I understand that, due to their complicated nature, these dealings can take some time to process. The case has to be examined further and it is not possible to estimate a completion time.
