Vol. 475 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ministerial Appointments.

Batt O'Keeffe

Ceist:

138 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health the concerns, if any, he has that the appointment by him of a member of the Irish Medicines Board has resulted in that person being involved in a conflict of interest. [3422/97]

Limerick East): Section 24 of the Irish Medicines Board Act, 1995, requires any person involved in the board's decision-making process, including board members, employees and other advisers, to make a full disclosure of any relevant interests. It also requires that the person must not participate in any way in the consideration of a matter in which he or she has a beneficial interest. I am satisfied that these requirements are being fully observed.
