226 Mr. Lawlor asked the Minister for Education the action, if any, she will take to ensure recognition of Gaelcholáiste Leamhcáin in view of the fact that 1997 will be the first year that past pupils of Gaelscoil Naomh Pádraig in Palmerstown, Dublin 20 will be seeking enrolment at the gaelcholáiste; and if the site has been purchased for the gaelcholáiste which has been promised for more than six months and the financial allocation for which was made in 1996. As I informed the Deputy in reply to Dáil Question No. 375 on Wednesday, 22 January 1997 an application from County Dublin Vocational Education Committee for sanction to open the Gaelcholáiste in temporary accommodation from next September is under examination in my Department at present. A decision will be conveyed to the committee as soon as possible.
My Department's postprimary building unit met the vocational education committee and their design team recently to initiate a detailed investigation of the proposed site. Upon completion of the feasibility study, the building unit will be in a position to consider the question of the site purchase.
