Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Hospital Appointments.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

125 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Health the current position on the provision of an opthamologist for Letterkenny, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7976/97]

Limerick East): The provision of an ophthalmologist for Letterkenny, County Donegal is a matter for the North Western Health Board in the first instance.

I have been informed by the North-Western Health Board that the board's service policy for ophthalmics identifies the need for a second consultant ophthalmic surgeon for the region. A complete review of the acute consultant ophthalmic service for the region is currently being undertaken and part of the process will address the service requirements of County Donegal.
