Written Answers. - Music Task Force.
The report of FORTE, the music task force which I established in May 1995, was formally launched by me in December 1996.
The report contains a wide range of findings and recommendations and supplies a detailed analysis of a very complex and important industry. I am at present considering those recommendations.
However, already, arising from an interim report of FORTE requested by me in relation to taxation issues, I was successful in securing the extension of the business expansion scheme to the music industry. I believe that this initiative, which is designed to increase investment in new creative talent, will over time prove to be of great assistance to the indigenous industry. Without prejudicing my consideration of the full report and my dialogue with the industry, I look forward to the advancement of further initiatives in this important sector.
