Vol. 476 No. 7

Written Answers. - Pollution Control Scheme.

Michael P. Kitt

Ceist:

398 Mr. M. Kitt asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when he will introduce a scheme of grant-aid for building slatted sheds under the control of farmyard pollution scheme; if applicants for the REP scheme will be given priority for the grants for slatted sheds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8321/97]

As indicated in Partnership 2000, it is the Government's intention to give priority to reintroduction of the control of farm pollution scheme if additional funds become available at the mid-term review of the Structural Funds. Should these funds become available, consideration will be given to the overall focus of the scheme.

Partnership 2000 also indicated that provision would be made by way of improved capital allowances for a targeted and monitored measure to support investment by farmers in necessary pollution control measures. Details of the scheme which was announced by the Minister for Finance in his budget speech, will be available shortly from the Revenue Commissioners.
