The information sought by the Deputy regarding the number and status of the staff in the ministerial offices of the Minister for Justice and the offices of the Ministers of State are set out in the following statement.
1988
Ministerial Offices: 14 permanent civil servants, two temporary clerical trainees and a non-established personal assistant.
1993
Ministerial Offices: 14 permanent civil servants and a non-established personal secretary.
Office of the Minister of State: Seven permanent civil servants, a special adviser and a personal secretary both of whom were non-established.
1995 and 1996
Ministerial Offices: 12 permanent civil servants and three non-established staff, including my Dáil secretary, a programme manager and my personal assistant.
Office of Minister of State Burton: Four permanent civil servants, one of whom is seconded, and a personal secretary who is non-established.
Office of Minister of State Currie: Two permanent civil servants.
