Vol. 477 No. 2

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Paul Bradford

Ceist:

279 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be paid a reactor grant which has been due since March 1996. [8802/97]

A reactor grant of £400 issued to this person on 24 March 1997.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

280 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid under the 1995 suckler cow scheme in view of the fact that the delay is causing financial hardship. [8875/97]

The herd owner did not receive any payment under the 1995 suckler cow scheme because he was deemed to have applied on ineligible animals. He appealed this decision to the headage and premia appeals unit. The appeals unit considered the matter and found that the decision taken was the correct one in the circumstances. The appeal was unsuccessful. The herd owner was notified of the outcome in November 1996 when the appeal was concluded. He subsequently raised the matter with the Office of the Ombudsman and the case is now being considered by that office.
