Vol. 478 No. 7

Written Answers - Temporary Teachers Panel.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

145 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is not included on the supplementary panel of the Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland in view of the fact that all the conditions required have been met by him. [11945/97]

The redeployment scheme for lay teachers in Catholic secondary schools provides for the creation of a supplementary panel for temporary teachers. An independent administrator is appointed by the parties to the scheme to administer the scheme. Teachers wishing to be included on the supplementary panel in any particular year must formally apply to the administrator on the appropriate form by a specified date. It is the administrator who decides whether a particular applicant should be included on the panel. I have no function in the matter. The person referred to by the Deputy should take up the matter of his exclusion from the supplementary panel with the administrator.
