Vol. 480 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dental Service.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

176 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health the dental services currently available to a 16 year old student; and if he will give a time-table for programmed improvements, if any, or the extension of current services. [13691/97]

Persons aged 16 years or over who have medical card entitlements are currently eligible for emergency or routine dental treatment under the dental treatment services scheme.

Children who have completed national school are entitled to dental services up to age 14 years. The dental health action plan provides for the extension of entitlement to children up to age 16 years according as additional resources become available.
