Michael Ring

Ceist:

179 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for his second cataract operation. [13790/97]

As the provision of ophthalmology treatment to the person concerned, is the responsibility of the Western Health Board, I have asked the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.

Ceist:

180 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called to Sligo Regional Hospital for a hip operation in view of the fact that she has already waited for three years, is in severe pain and her husband who is a stroke victim depends solely on her for care. [13791/97]

I understand from the North-Western Health Board that the person in question was admitted for surgery in early June.
