Ceist:258 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be approved for a carer's allowance in view of the fact that she applied some time ago. [13527/97]

An application from the person concerned for carer's allowance was refused on the basis that her means, derived from her husband's earnings, exceed the statutory limit for entitlement to the allowance. She has been notified of this decision and advised of her right of appeal to the independent Social Welfare Appeals Office.
