Ahern asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the plan and timescale, if any, for the construction of a car park for people attending the Botanic Gardens, Dublin 11; the proposed location of this car park; if it will be available to cars and coaches; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I visited the National Botanic Gardens last week and was pleased to note that the development of plans for parking facilities for both cars and coaches for people visiting the gardens is well in hands. The area proposed for public parking is at the rear of the Teak House.
Planning permission will be needed and, all going well, it is hoped to commence the project in 1998 and complete it before the end of 1999.
