Vol. 480 No. 2

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

290 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the action a person (details supplied) in Dublin 4, who is an Irish naturalised citizen, must take in order for his parents to be able to stay in Ireland on a regular basis in view of the fact that their multiple visa has expired and he has been informed that such multiple visas will now only be issued in exceptional circumstances; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13454/97]

There has been no change in the circumstance in which multiple entry visas are granted. Such visas are, generally speaking, granted only to those who for business or professional, e.g., diplomatic, reasons need to visit the State on a regular basis, often at short notice.

In the particular circumstances of this case an application for a visa to visit the State should be made to the Consular Section, Department of Foreign Affairs.

A decision on the application will be made as soon as practicable.
