325 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education the current position on the application from Corpus Christi national school, Drumcondra, Dublin 9, for a grant toward the repair of the heating system; whether work will be done over the summer season if the grant is approved; and if he will give details of the funds sought and approved. My Department has recently agreed to provide grant assistance towards the cost of replacing the heating system at Corpus Christi national school. Funding will be provided at a rate of 85 per cent of the final cost of the works.
The consulting engineer has been instructed to prepare plans and specifications in respect of this project. It is not yet possible to state whether the work can be completed in time for the start of the new school year but every effort will be made to progress this project as quickly as possible.
326 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Education if he will sanction repair work for Scoil Mhuire primary school, Abbeyleix, County Laois, where a large portion of the school has now been vacated due to intolerable conditions. [13559/97]
My Department has recently sanctioned grant assistance towards the cost of improvement works to the roof at Scoil Mhuire, Abbeyleix, County Laois. My Department's architectural staff are arranging to have the works carried out during the summer holiday period.
