Vol. 480 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

331 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education the current status of the plans for the construction of a new primary school for the North Dublin School Project, Church Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin 11; if agreement has been reached on the State grant and the size of the school; the percentage grant which is available; if 100 per cent grants are available to some groups; and the difference between groups which receive 100 per cent grants and groups which do not; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13679/97]

In January 1997, my Department advised the school management of North Dublin School Project of the accommodation brief for the proposed new building.

On the request of the school authorities, the revision of this brief to include a number of extra facilities is being considered in my Department. My Department will be in touch shortly with the school in the matter. It is hoped that architectural planning will thereafter be initiated. Grant assistance will be provided at 85 per cent of the final cost of the agreed brief. One hundred per cent grants are provided to Gaelscoileanna in respect of the cost of their permanent accommodation.
