Vol. 480 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

348 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education if he will provide school transport to a school in County Cork for a person (details supplied). [13928/97]

I regret that the child to whom the Deputy refers is not eligible for free transport to the school in question. My Department would be prepared to consider allowing this pupil avail of concessionary fare-paying transport to the school attended, provided the written agreement of the board of management of the nearest school is secured in respect of such transport.

An official agreement form was issued to the family concerned when application for transport was first made in May 1996. However, this form has not yet been returned to the Department. On receipt of this agreement, concessionary fare-paying transport will be given immediate consideration by my Department.
