349 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education if his Department has received a request for financial assistance towards improvements to a school (details supplied) in County Cork; if these works will be classified as major repairs; and when an allocation will be made to have these works carried out. My Department has received a request for grant-aid towards improvements at the school to which the Deputy refers. My Department's technical staff have been requested to report on the improvements sought. When this report is received and considered, a decision will be conveyed to the school management. At this stage it is premature to state if the works will be classified as major or when a financial allocation will be made.
350 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education if he will sanction grant-aid towards the cost of the provision of a new heating system, a new school-yard surface and new windows at Gael Scoil de hÍde, Fermoy, County Cork. [13930/97]
A report on the school-yard surface and windows at Gaelscoil de hÍde, Fermoy has been requested from the Office of Public Works, Cork. When this report is received and considered, a decision will be conveyed to the school management.
A report on the school's heating installation is currently being considered within my Department's building unit. A proposal on how the present difficulties might be dealt with will be communicated to the school shortly.
351 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Education if he will approve the funding required to repair a school (details supplied) in County Meath which has a leaking roof; if so, when work will commence on these repairs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13931/97]
The Office of Public Works has recently advised the planning and building unit of my Department on the application for roof works by the school referred to by the Deputy. The information supplied by the Office of Public Works is currently being evaluated and my Department will be in touch with the school management in the matter as soon as possible.
