48 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Defence the investigations, if any, which have been held into the incident in Southern Lebanon in which a number of Irish personnel serving with UNIFIL were injured; if inquiries established those responsible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Irish troops serving in UNIFIL are subject to UN command and control. As is the standard practice following serious incidents of this nature, the UN has initiated formal investigations. Full details of these investigations are awaited from the UN authorities.
