Ceist:

73 Mr. Shatter asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment whether any meeting took place in 1987 or 1988 between the directors of a company (details supplied) and the then Minister for Industry and Commerce or the Minister for Energy, or both, to discuss the provision of a new industry grant payment to this company by the IDA; if so, the date and location of any such meeting; the names of those who attended the meeting; and the action, if any, either Minister or any official of the Departments took as a consequence of any such meeting. My Department's official records do not reveal any evidence of a meeting, as referred to by the Deputy, taking place during the period in question.

My Department also consulted Forbairt and the then Department of Energy. That Department has found no evidence of such a meeting involving the then Minister for Energy. Forbairt found no evidence of such a meeting taking place during that period involving staff of the then IDA.

In view of the terms of the Deputy's question, if he has any relevant specific information I would be happy to seek appropriate clarification.
