229 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the investment based naturalisation scheme is still operative; if applications are being received and processed; and if it is the Government's intention to place this scheme on a statutory basis. [15666/97]
: The previous Government decided that a certain number of cases then on hands should be brought to finality. Some of these cases have been finalised. I will not be considering any of the remaining cases, nor will I be entertaining any new applications, pending a thorough review of the scheme which the Government asked me to carry out in early September.
