144 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will approve funding for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who has not secured her desired course with a regional technical college and is currently doing a preliminary course for one year in a college in Carlow. Grants under the higher education grants scheme and the vocational education committee scholarship scheme are payable to eligible students in respect of attendance on approved full-time undergraduate courses of at least two years' duration.
As the student in question is pursuing a one year course which is not approved for the purposes of the student support schemes, she is not eligible for grant assistance.
