65 Mr. D'Arcy asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has held a meeting with the National Adult Literacy Agency and discussed its proposals; and the increased funding, if any, he proposes to include in the 1998 Estimates for the development of the services provided by the agency. The Minister of State at my Department, Deputy Willie O'Dea, has met representatives of the National Adult Literacy Agency on two occasions since he took up office. The level of funding provided by my Department to NALA was among the items discussed. I am seeking a substantial increase in funding for adult education in general in 1998, in the context of the Estimate discussions which are ongoing. An increase in funding for NANA will be considered in the context of the 1998 Estimates provisions.
