Vol. 483 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

247 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department will sanction funding for the Ballina sewerage scheme in County Mayo. [20141/97]

Given the high level of existing commitments under the water and sewerage services investment programme, I cannot say when funding can be made available for this scheme.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

248 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to sanction funding to enable the Lurgacloy, Barnagh and Clogher area of Mayo to have running water, particularly following his recent meeting with the committee action group in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20142/97]

The Erris regional water supply scheme, extension to the Mullet peninsula, will provide a water supply for these areas. This scheme is being considered in the context of my Department's water and sewerage services investment programme for 1988.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

249 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the area of Castlebar, County Mayo which will be covered by the £400,000 recently announced for an extension to Castlebar sewerage scheme; if he will give details of the exact area of town, length and so on in this regard; and when construction will commence in this regard. [20143/97]

I recently approved a preliminary report for this scheme. I also indicated that I will be including in my Department's water and sewerage services investment programme for 1998 an urgently needed advance section of the scheme to go to construction. My Department will supply the Deputy with a map outlining the exact areas to be covered in the advance section.

Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

250 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the current position regarding the proposed sewerage scheme for Donegal town, County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20144/97]

The local authority are currently updating the original preliminary report for the scheme and this is awaited in my Department. An application for Cohesion Fund assistance for the Donegal Bay scheme, which includes the sewerage scheme for Donegal town, is with the European Commission and a decision is awaited.

Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

251 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department is assessing the proposed sewerage scheme for Burtonport, County Donegal; and the current situation in this regard. [20145/97]

Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to approve this proposal.
