Vol. 483 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

143 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in arranging payment of a 1997 suckler cow premium to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny in view of the fact that his Department states there is a problem with his area aid, which also existed in 1997 but was rectified by his Department and payments eventually were made. [20232/97]

Payments are continuing to issue to farmers under all premium and headage schemes.

While the requirements of the land parcel identification system which is fully operational in 1997 under EU rules have been a complicating factor in processing the various premium and headage applications this year, it is expected that most remaining payments will be made in the very near future.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

144 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo has not received payment in respect of his 1996 and 1997 sheep headage quota; and when he will receive payment. [20274/97]

My Department has no record of an application from the person named under the 1997 sheep headage and ewe premium schemes.

He did apply under the 1996 schemes and was paid for ewe premium but as we have no record of receipt of an area aid application form in 1996 he was not entitled to sheep headage.
