Vol. 483 No. 5

Written Answers. - National Parks.

Liz McManus

Ceist:

23 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she intends to proceed with the establishment of a Wicklow Uplands Partnership as recommended in the Wicklow Mountains National Park Study which was published in February 1997 in view of the submissions received by her Department during the summer of 1997 and endorsed by the Wicklow Uplands Council and the planning section. [20652/97]

The Deputy is no doubt aware that the draft plan for the Wicklow Mountains National Park was completed by consultants RPS Cairns and published by my Department in February last. A consultation period of four months was given to allow all interested parties time to consider the report and to make written submissions on its content. A total of 45 submissions were received. RPS Cairns was then given an opportunity to respond to those submissions and it submitted its response last month.

I am currently examining all the issues raised.
