Vol. 483 No. 5

Written Answers. - Public Art.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

74 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she has consulted with the Department of Environment and Local Government in relation to the quality and variety of sculptures currently being provided in many towns, with particular emphasis on major roundabouts; her views in this regard; if she has satisfied herself that they enhance the sense of community; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20622/97]

The question of the quality and variety of public art at local authority level is a matter for each local authority under broad criteria established by the Department of the Environment and Local Government.
