Vol. 484 No. 2

Written Answers. - Crank Telephone Calls.

Gay Mitchell

Ceist:

133 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 continues to receive threatening phone calls in spite of reporting these matters to the Garda and in spite of representations to the Garda Commissioner regarding the case which has been ongoing for about six years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21792/97]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that this matter first came to the attention of the Garda when the persons to whom the Deputy refers reported the matter at Crumlin Garda station in 1996. I am further informed that the matter is still under investigation and is receiving appropriate Garda attention. The Garda will continue to liaise with the persons to whom the Deputy refers and they will appraise them of the current position in relation to the investigation.
