Since taking office, as the Deputy will be aware, I have systematically addressed the issue of skill needs for our economy in consultation with industry, educational institutions and the industrial development agencies.
Almost immediately on taking up office I was able to make £5 million available to tackle the most pressing issues. Subsequently, of course, the Government has established a £250 million investment fund to further enhance the capacity of our education system to continue to contribute in a crucial way to economic development.
The issue raised by the Deputy is under consideration in my Department.
