Vol. 484 No. 3

Written Answers. - Local Authority Staff.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

264 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will give details of the number of indoor and outdoor staff employed in each county council and county borough; and the change in numbers employed, if any, since 1995 in this regard. [22137/97]

Details of indoor and outdoor staff are not available in my Department.

The numbers of officers and non-officers employed in each county council and county borough corporation at 31 December 1996 — the most up-to-date information available to my Department — are set out in the table beneath. These figures include part-time staff. The total number of staff employed by county councils and county borough corporations at the end of 1996 was 27,541, an increase of 17 over the 1995 figure.
