Vol. 484 No. 3

Written Answers. - Residency Requirements.

Jim O'Keeffe

Ceist:

313 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the minimum income requirement, if any, there is for an American who is a retired person of independent means who wishes to reside in Ireland; and, if so, if there has been a recent change in this income requirement. [22120/97]

There is no minimum income requirement which is sought from American nationals specifically. However, it is a general requirement that all non-nationals coming to the State, for whatever purpose, should have sufficient funds to cover all costs of their stay here and to ensure that they at no time become a burden on the State while they are here.
