377 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Education and Science if an application for grant assistance in relation to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan will be approved at an early date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22299/97]
The eligibility of the person in question for a grant is a matter for County Cavan Vocational Education Committee to determine in accordance with the provisions of the vocational education committee scholarship scheme. I understand the applicant is not eligible for an award under the terms of the vocational education committee scholarship scheme as the course which she is now pursuing is of similar level to a course which she has completed at Sligo Regional Technical College and in respect of which she has already received a grant under the ESF maintenance grant scheme.
