71 Ms McManus asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the call from the general secretary of ICTU for national guidelines for more family friendly working environments and, particularly, for the need for more flexible rosters; the plans, if any, she has to initiate discussions with the social partners in relation to introducing guidelines in this regard; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The general question of family friendly working environments is, of course, a matter for my colleague the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform. While the organisation of rosters within particular employments is a matter for discussion between employers and their employees, I encourage them to adopt as flexible an approach in this regard as is compatible with the efficient running of businesses.
