110 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if she has had a meeting with the IDA and Forbairt regarding the promotion of the west for industrial purposes; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22211/97]
I am in constant contact with IDA Ireland and Forbairt in relation to the promotion of all regions of the country, including the west, for industrial development. With my explicit encouragement, IDA is pursuing a policy of promoting and facilitating the most equitable regional distribution of jobs throughout the country. The result of this proactive approach is being reflected in several recent project announcements for areas outside the larger urban centres. The following is indicative of a very positive trend in this regard:
