Ceist:

873 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Education and Science whether a leaving certificate student can get tuition from his Department if he is in hospital on a long-term basis as a result of injury; and if a person (details supplied) in County Limerick is eligible for this tuition. [1482/98]

Minister for Education and Science (Mr. Martin):

My Department operates a scheme for the provision of tuition for pupils who are unable to attend school because of prolonged illness.

I have asked my Department to forward an application form to the parents of the pupil in question. Should an application be submitted, it will be considered as soon as possible.
