Vol. 486 No. 6

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

95 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason a new Garda station at Kilmacthomas, County Waterford, has not been provided in view of the deplorable condition of the existing station where only one room is fit for use. [3008/98]

It is proposed to build a new Garda station at Kilmacthomas. The difficulty has been in obtaining a suitable site on which to build. In this regard I understand that the Office of Public Works have recently identified two potentially suitable sites and the local authority has been asked to advise if it has any objection to the development of either site as a new Garda station. Its response is awaited. Pending the building of the new station some improvements are being made to the existing station.
