209 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to amend the operation of the shared ownership scheme in view of the problem of escalating house prices in the Dublin area; if he will allow for larger sums to be loaned which could be paid back over a longer period of time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. On 13 November last, I introduced improvements to a range of the social housing options including measures to improve affordability of housing for shared owners and other low income house purchasers. Preliminary indications suggest that activity under the shared ownership scheme has increased since last November. I will continue to monitor progress under the scheme.
