Vol. 487 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

165 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when a dealing (details supplied) in the Land Registry Office will be finalised in view of the fact that the delay is causing financial hardship. [4357/98]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 (i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession) of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 20 October 1997. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49, which require detailed examination of the applicant's claim for registration as owner, take some time to process.

I can confirm that the Land Registry will do everything possible to expedite the resolution of this application.
