Written Answers - Stamp Duty.
I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the yield from stamp duty on all property transactions for 1997 was £254 million. While the exact figure is not available, it is estimated that stamp duty on the transfer of houses accounted for about £150 million in 1997.
The estimated yield from property transactions in 1998 is £279 million. It is not possible to give a breakdown at this stage of what proportion of that estimated yield will be generated by the transfer of houses.
