Vol. 488 No. 1

Written Answers - Home Help Scheme.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

181 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children whether a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive her weekly entitlement to home help of five hours in one day to enable her daughter-in-law to travel to the nearest shop six miles away and in view of the fact that the home help would be agreeable to the new arrangements and the health boards have not yet replied to requests from Deputy Ring for approval for this arrangement. [5472/98]

As the Deputy is aware, the administration of the home help scheme for older people in the Mayo area is a matter for the Western Health Board.

I have asked the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board to investigate this case as a matter of urgency and respond directly to the Deputy with the board's findings.
