Vol. 488 No. 1

Written Answers - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

203 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position on a regional group water scheme in County Mayo; and when he will sanction funding for this scheme. [5416/98]

I assume the Deputy is referring to the Westport water supply scheme — extension from Castlebar. This scheme, which will provide an extra 400,000 gallons of water per day to Westport, is substantially complete.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

204 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the water and sewerage schemes for County Mayo that are awaiting sanction for funding. [5417/98]

The information requested is being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.

Seán Barrett

Ceist:

205 Mr. Barrett asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will provide the necessary funding to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council to complete the drainage scheme from Carysfort Lake to the sea at Blackrock in order to avoid flooding in the Avondale Lawn and Court areas after a heavy rainfall. [5420/98]

A preliminary report of the Carysfort to Maretimo Stream improvement scheme at an estimated cost of 1997 Paid £1.57 million has been submitted to my Department. Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage services investment programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to advance this scheme.
