Vol. 488 No. 1

Written Answers - Court Accommodation.

Jim O'Keeffe

Ceist:

237 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that suitable alternative accommodation for a District Court Clerk Office is available in Bandon, County Cork; if his attention has been further drawn to the fact that negotiations in relation to this property have been proceeding for a number years; and whether he will ensure that the arrangements are finalised to ensure that the office will be retained in Bandon. [5546/98]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 236 of 21 October 1997 which sets out the position regarding Bandon courthouse.

With regard to alternative accommodation for the District Court office I can inform the Deputy that, while officials from my Department examined the premises, no undertaking was given to acquire or rent it.
