Vol. 488 No. 1

Written Answers - Teachers' Leave of Absence.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

257 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science if two teachers (details supplied) from County Mayo travelling to Aror, Kenya on a cultural and educational exchange will be granted a leave of absence without a break in their service contract for incremental and pension purposes in view of the fact that they will be developing an educational module from Aror for Irish students and secondary school teachers are given this privilege and in view of his agreement to review this case. [5456/98]

I would refer the Deputy to my responses to previous parliamentary questions — Parliamentary Question No. 88 answered on 5 February 1998 and Parliamentary Question No. 137 answered on 12 February 1998 — which he raised on this issue. I regret to inform the Deputy that there have been no changes or developments on this matter since then.
