Vol. 488 No. 4

Written Answers - Accommodation for the Homeless.

Gerry Reynolds

Ceist:

186 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Health and Children the amount of financial resources provided to the Eastern Health Board for the provision of temporary accommodation for homeless persons and refugees in each of the years from 1994 to 1997. [6296/98]

The information sought by the Deputy is set out as follows. I should point out that the Eastern Health Board does not distinguish as between services provided for persons with refugee status and ordinary residents seeking those services. However, last year, the board established a separate unit to deal with asylum seekers i.e. persons seeking refugee status, and the amount provided for expenditure on temporary accommodation for this group and the homeless is shown as two separate items for 1997.
