Vol. 488 No. 4

Written Answers - Animal Certification.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

88 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if meat plants, abattoirs, cattle marts and sales yards are being allowed to accept animals which are presented without identity cards or properly completed documentation as required under animal movement regulations. [6138/98]

Cattle being presented for slaughter, sale or export must be accompanied by valid cattle identity cards or movement permits issued by the relevant district veterinary office. In addition, since September 1997 all female animals presented for slaughter or export must be accompanied by a specific movement permit.
