Ceist:

119 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will provide details of the operation of the probation and welfare service in Dublin 12; the number of persons with addresses in the Dublin 12 area availing of the probation and welfare service; if he will provide a list of projects in the Dublin 12 area undertaken by the probation and welfare service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6808/98]

The Probation and Welfare Service has a local office at Clonard Road, Crumlin, Dublin 12 from which the following cases are currently being dealt with in respect of persons from the Dublin 12 area: pre-sanction reports currently in preparation, 12; probation orders, 36; deferment of sanction, 11; community service orders, 13.

There are three community service projects ongoing within the Dublin 12 area: St. John Bosco Youth Club, Drimnagh — renovating and redecorating the Club; St. Damien's Primary School, Crumlin — redecorating and maintaining school and school grounds; Brú Crumlin Youth Club — this is a personalised placement in which offenders on Community Service work alongside other volunteers in providing a Youth Work Service to young people in the area.
